First African airport with cargo handling IT from Lufthansa Systems
Al Alamain International Airport in Egypt is the first African airport to deploy ELWIS, the cargo handling IT solution from Lufthansa Systems. By simplifying and automating the cargo handling process, the system enables Al Alamain International Airport to increase its efficiency and improve its customer service. ELWIS already operates successfully in several Asian, European and South American airports.
ELWIS covers the entire cargo handling workflow, from physical handling, documentation and electronic customs clearance, to the invoicing of handling services. The comprehensive solution integrates wireless technology using wireless PCs, handheld devices and fork-lift mounted terminals and offers real-time tracking and tracing over the entire shipment life cycle. ELWIS is part of the AdvancedCargo Suite, the innovative air cargo IT platform from Lufthansa Systems.
Al Alamain International Airport is located on the Egyptian North coast and was opened in October 2005.
